I took these pictures at the 1998 Baltimore Maryland World of Wheels Car Show, also snapped one at the 1998 Chryslers at Carlisle (Pennsylvania) car show and swap meet.
6/1/99: New Information!!!
On May 22-23, 1999 I attended the WILDEST Street/Custom car show and cruise held May 20-24, 1999 in Ocean City Maryland. Wow !! That's another story....Anyways, I had a feeling that this black convertible would make another rare appearance. Well I was right! I managed to snap a couple of pictures before he was leaving the show area.
Later that night as I was cruising around in my own fish.... I spied the Mystery Machine about 5 cars in front of me. Trying to catch up to him for about 20 blocks was hard to say the least, I had to weave in and out of about 50 street rods--all chriping tires and catching gears at every traffic light--and there is a traffic light at about every block!! Then he turned off the main drag... and being the Barracuda obsessive type of person that I am....I followed......He caught a glance of my license plate (68 383s) in the rearview and hit the brakes.
After parking his fish in the covered garage he returned to talk "barracuda" with me. We talked for about an hour (and it was already 11pm to start with), when his wife leaned out the balcony of the Condo unit they were staying in and said... "Honey, what's wrong with the car?" But, she was looking down at the dark street at MY blue fastback and not their black with white convertible top (she was up on the 3rd floorand it WAS dark!!).
Anyways, the owners name is TED, he lives in Essex, Maryland, he is the ORIGINAL owner of the car, and his daughter even used the car during college. He did not know the car was as rare as the 1 of 24 when the "1 of 64" Maryland vanity license plates were ordered.
Knowing now what he did'nt know then, she is a trailer queen for some of the shows that he chooses to let her make an appearence at.
I have his e-mail address and phone number but before just giving it out I would prefer to get an ok from him first.
